Community composting is a great way to contribute to our community gardens! By bringing us your food scraps, you help us build fertile and healthy soils in our gardens, keep your food out of the landfill, and join the BCLFN community. Together we can grow great local food!
We are currently collecting food scraps at Chico’s Wednesday Farmers’ Market in the North Valley Plaza (801 East Ave, Chico, CA 95926) from 7:30am-12pm! We accept fruits and vegetables, coffee grounds, tea bags, and other simple compostable scraps. We unfortunately aren’t able to take any dairy, meat, oils, or commercially compostable materials (like compostable plastic bags) because our compost piles don’t get hot enough to break them down quickly. More information available at https://chicoclimateaction.my.canva.site/#compost.
We hope to expand our collection program soon! Subscribe to the BCLFN newsletter to stay informed about any updates.
